Above the contribution cap
On MX$100,000 gross a month in 2026 you receive MX$73,833 net: MX$23,736 of ISR and MX$2,431 of IMSS, already at its cap. The IMSS contribution base has a ceiling of 25 UMA a day, MX$2,932.75 in 2026. At MX$100,000 a month your integrated daily wage is well above it, so your employee contribution freezes at MX$2,431 and no raise moves it. The same ceiling governs what builds up in your retirement account and any future pension: it is measured on the cap, not on your real salary. From here, the gap between your salary and the base registered with IMSS is income that builds no retirement savings on its own. Voluntary contributions to your Afore or a personal retirement plan close that gap, and they are deductible in the annual return within their limits. Foreign executives often overlook this, because the cap is invisible on the payslip.

MX$6,411 higher the 32% bracket begins. Your effective ISR rate is currently 23.7 %. Even in the top bracket, 35% on monthly income above MX$425,642, the effective rate never reaches that percentage, because each bracket only taxes its own slice.

Frequently asked questions
How much is 100,000 pesos gross after tax?
MX$73,833 net a month in 2026. ISR withheld is MX$23,736, an effective rate of 23.7 %, and the IMSS employee contribution stays at MX$2,431 because your contribution base has hit the 25-UMA cap. A higher salary only adds ISR from here, at 30% and then 32%.
Why does my IMSS deduction stay the same after a raise?
Because contributions are worked out on a base capped at 25 UMA a day, MX$2,932.75 in 2026 (art. 28 LSS). Once your integrated wage goes above that, the employee contribution stays at about MX$2,431 a month whatever your salary. Your employer’s share is capped the same way.
Does the IMSS cap affect my pension?
Yes. Deposits to your retirement account and the base for any pension are calculated on the registered wage, which cannot exceed 25 UMA a day. On a MX$100,000 salary much of your income sits outside that base; voluntary contributions make up the difference.
